Business education website Poets&Quants for Undergrads recently recognized Commerce Professor Jeffrey Lovelace, naming him to their seventh annual list of the 50 Best Undergraduate Business Professors.
Lovelace, the Robert H. Schade Bicentennial Associate Professor and Director of the Commerce School’s pan-UVA Leadership Minor, has taught at McIntire since 2017. He was chosen for the honor from among more than 1,000 nominations for more than 150 professors submitted by students, alumni, colleagues, and school deans from more than 60 schools. P&Q also considered the volume of Google Scholar citations, major media attention, research and writing awards, and industry impact when weighing their decision.
In addition to insight into his leadership and work with the greater UVA community provided by Assistant Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs Chris Elliott, the article focuses on Lovelace’s background, his introduction to becoming a business school professor, work with McIntire students, research, life outside of the classroom, and much more.
A former U.S. Army Intelligence Officer who served two tours in Iraq, Lovelace is currently an International Research Fellow for the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation and serves on the editorial boards for the Academy of Management Review and the Journal of Management.
The accolade from Poets&Quants is the latest in a series of honors for Lovelace, who has recently won other awards, including the Distinguished Scholars Award from the University of Virginia Engagement Office (2024), the Best Reviewer Award for the Journal of Management (2024), the Network of Leadership Scholars Rising Star Award (2022), and Best Paper for the Strategic Leadership and Governance Interest Group at the Strategic Management Society annual conference (2018).
