Why Promotions?
I wanted to be a part of a unique and hands-on program that challenged me to solve a realistic problem with creativity—something I believe to be rare in the typical academic classes.
Relevant work experience?
My internships at Schonfeld Strategic Advisors and Gladstone Place Partners prepared me for Promotions. The prior was an in-house communications role at a hedge fund and the latter a financial communications intern at an agency.
Relevant skill set?
My previous internships were great opportunities to hone in on relevant practices for Promotions such as teamwork and time management as well as brand positioning and extensive researching.
Extracurricular activities?
At school, I devote my free time to extracurricular activities such as The Virginia Sil’hooettes; Volunteers with International Students, Staff, and Scholars; Advertising and Marketing Association; Futures in Fashion Association; and Global Peer-to-Peer Mentors.
Career aspiration?
I would like to continue working at a financial communications agency with specialties in M&A, corporate governance, and shareholder activism, and hope to work at an agency for a majority of my career before going back to being in-house.

Fun fact:
My name used to be Emily, but we had a family friend whose name was Emily too, so it got confusing and, well, one of us had to change.
