Where are you currently located?

I’m currently in Charlottesville, north of the Corner, living with two other awesome UVA grad students!

Job title and/or industry:

I’m a Computer Scientist for the U.S. Department of the Army in the federal civil service. Assigned to Army University, I provide professional military training and education.

What is your academic background and motivation for pursuing the M.S. in MIT degree?

I have a B.S. in Computer Science from William & Mary. I was motivated to pursue the M.S. at MIT degree because I wanted to equip myself with the business acumen needed to effectively translate my technical expertise into innovative solutions and strategic decisions, thereby bridging the gap between technology and successful business outcomes.

What appealed to you the most about the M.S. in MIT Program?

Being able to work while I went to school, and the flexible schedule of the program, which has allowed me to travel the country as I’ve needed for work

What are you looking forward to or have you enjoyed most so far in the M.S. in MIT Program?

I’m looking forward to the study-abroad trip in Mendoza, Argentina, this December! This will be my first time out of the country. I’m excited to have an opportunity to learn from international businesses and apply new concepts and ideas.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I’m a big plane spotter, so you can find me on the National Mall during residencies, watching planes take off from DCA, or on the Lawn in Charlottesville, watching them descend into CHO. I also like hiking, running, video games, niche programming projects, and traveling Virginia.

Where is your favorite place you have traveled?

Definitely Yosemite National Park! I loved the drive from SFO along California 140 in Merced and Mariposa counties and was completely captivated by Tunnel View.

What is your favorite thing to do during residencies?

Enjoy the wonderful spreads put out for us during breakfast and lunch! It’s the “Snackintire” School of Commerce, for certain.
