What inspired you to pursue graduate study in global commerce, and what are your goals for the program?

After I graduated, I felt like I had a solid grasp on the basics of international commerce and business. What really inspired me to choose this specific program was the more specialized and hands-on classes that will supplement what I learned at my undergraduate college. Additionally, this program’s curriculum will allow me to look deeper into a wide range of topics that I am interested in and eventually focus on what I choose my career path to be. This relates directly to my main goal of the program, which is to develop a more nuanced understanding of global markets and trade and eventually be able to apply that to a career.

What courses or topics in global commerce are you most excited to explore during the program?

Obviously, the Social Impact Project is the first aspect of the program that comes to mind. The opportunity to do something like this in a graduate program is extremely unique and undoubtedly going to inspire my cohort and I moving forward. When it comes to the curriculum, I am excited to explore classes that focus on global perspectives and markets. I’ve always had in interest in topics that focus on more than just the United States which has and will continue to become more important as we move forward.

What drew you to the M.S. in Global Commerce Program at UVA McIntire?

I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in a few different travel-abroad programs at Rhodes College, and I loved how much I changed/grew over the days, weeks, and months I was gone. The MSGC is another opportunity to get uncomfortable and grow while also acquiring the tools to continue through May 2026 and onward.

What are you most looking forward to as you begin the M.S. in Global Commerce Program?

I’m very excited to meet and get to know my classmates. I am confident that this experience will create friendships and partnerships that will last a lifetime.

What extracurriculars, clubs, or activities are you hoping to get involved with during your time here?

I was an athlete in college and still like to scratch the competitive itch, so intramural sports are high on my list. I’m also excited to be part of a “big school” and community. My undergraduate institution had only about 2,000 students, so I’m sure there are many other activities I’m not aware of yet that I will join and love.

What’s one place in Charlottesville (or on Grounds) you’re most excited to visit or explore?

Charlottesville has a unique restaurant scene, which I am excited about.
