What appealed to you about the M.S. in Commerce Program?

I applied to the program because it provided me with a generalist commerce base while adding technical finance skills that support my undergraduate degree.

What are you looking forward to or have you enjoyed most so far in the M.S. in Commerce Program?

I have loved the unique approach each professor brings into the classroom. Whether its Professor Patterson’s frequent polling of the crowd, or Professor Harris’s Socratic approach, the lectures are a fantastic window into the personalities of each professor. This keeps the entire class engaged throughout the day!

What are your academic interests?

I am currently interested in corporate valuation, organizational behavior, and strategy. As an undergrad, I was interested in international relations, communication theory, and the influence of state/local governments.

What clubs and organizations were you involved with during undergrad?

Most of my free time was spent with the NYU Public Policy Debate Team. I appreciated the opportunity to explore complex issues outside of the classroom. While on the team, I debated resolutions about international space cooperation, antitrust regulation, and executive authority. I served as Treasurer my senior year after previously acting as Secretary and Help Desk Director.

What are your hobbies?

Nothing busts as much stress as playing pick-up soccer with my friends after a long week. I love to read. Currently, I’m reading some of the older Greek texts with my friends. We are finishing up the “Odyssey” and about to start the “Iliad”! Finally, I am trying to become a better cook, so I spend a decent amount of time on the weekends trying new recipes.

Name three places on your bucket list to travel to and why.

After NYU, many of my friends moved internationally, so I am hoping to visit Dublin, London, and Barcelona in the near future to see them all again soon.

What is your favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or place to visit in Charlottesville?

I LOVE THE ALLEY LIGHT. I worked behind the bar at the Alley Light in 2021. It’s my vote for best restaurant in Charlottesville. The drinks are fantastic, the food is even better, and the speakeasy setting makes the whole experience a little more fun.
