What inspired you to pursue graduate study in commerce, and what are your goals for the program?
When I first arrived at UVA in 2022, I intended to pursue a career in medicine. However, I found myself asking bigger questions, like why patients weren’t being serviced quickly enough. This curiosity led me into research and, eventually, into exploring the financial side of healthcare during my internship with AbbVie, where I worked on Botox reimbursement. My interest deepened further at Huron, where I gained exposure to strategy consulting. These experiences made me realize the importance of understanding both healthcare systems and business decision-making. The opportunity to extend my studies with a fourth year at UVA—this time focused on commerce—was especially exciting. I hope to graduate with a strong foundation in strategy and case-based learning that I can apply throughout my career in consulting, driving meaningful change in healthcare systems.
What courses or topics in commerce are you most excited to explore during the program?
I’m especially excited about strategy courses and case-based learning. I’m looking forward to the Integrated Core Experience (ICE) model, where I’ll work with a group to tackle diverse business cases, as well as classes like Organizational Behavior that explore how to create effective, collaborative teams.
What drew you to the M.S. in Commerce Program at UVA McIntire?
The Global Immersion Experience (GIE) immediately caught my attention. Having studied abroad two semesters ago, I valued the perspective it gave me, and I wanted the chance to do so again in a business-focused context. The GIE offers exactly that, which made McIntire’s program the perfect fit.
What are you most looking forward to as you begin the M.S. in Commerce Program?
I’m most excited to meet my group and learn from them. I’m also looking forward to the Speaker Series, which will allow me to hear directly from CEOs each week and gain insight into their leadership and decision-making.
What extracurriculars, clubs, or activities are you hoping to get involved with during your time here?
I hope to. continue leading United2Heal, a healthcare nonprofit, and remain active in CHAARG, a women’s wellness and fitness organization at UVA. I’m also excited to join IM sports—especially beach volleyball.
What’s one place in Charlottesville (or on Grounds) you’re most excited to visit or explore?
I’m excited to spend more time at the Downtown Mall. I love the atmosphere and can’t wait to enjoy my favorite pasta at Luce again while soaking up the community vibe.
