What appealed to you about the M.S. in Commerce Program?

What appealed to me about the M.S. in Commerce was the program’s comprehensive curriculum and versatility-focused teaching approach, aligning with my goal of honing my understanding of commerce and business dynamics. As an aspiring business analyst and entrepreneur, gaining proficiency in strategic decision-making, data analysis, and corporate documentation was a priority, as I hope to build a strong foundation for the success of my career. Therefore, I saw enrolling in the program as a way to enter the job market as a more equipped and competitive candidate.

What are you looking forward to or have you enjoyed most so far in the M.S. in Commerce Program?

What I have enjoyed most about the M.S. in Commerce Program is the opportunity to meet and interact with business leaders across various fields. From CEOs of thriving startups to corporate partners of Fortune 500 companies, I have had the privilege of connecting with professionals whose experience I admire and whose positions I aspire to achieve one day. Expanding my network in such a meaningful way has broadened my perspective on the corporate life, inspiring me carve my own path to success in the world of business while learning from those who have exemplified the level of triumph I seek.

What are your academic interests?

I am very intrigued by business strategy, as I find it captivating to learn the rationale behind the decisions that drive corporate success. I also have a strong interest in data science, as I enjoy uncovering insights from data, creating visualizations, and learning how these findings can be applied to help companies thrive. Additionally, the study of social psychology fascinates me, as it enables entry-level associates and industry leaders to better assess their biases, weaknesses, and strengths to work more effectively in teams.

What are your hobbies?

In my spare time, I enjoy weightlifting, playing basketball, watching comedy movies, and spending time with my loved ones.

Name three places on your bucket list to travel to and why.

Greece, Italy, and Morocco! I am a fan of Mediterranean food, its landmarks, culture, and I would love to have the opportunity to explore these locations one day and learn more about them.

What is your favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or place to visit in Charlottesville?

My favorite restaurant in Charlottesville is Guajiros. Coming from a Dominican household, I think this Miami eatery offers the closest thing to Caribbean Hispanic food in the city, reminding me of home with its dishes, decor, and ambiance whenever I feel a bit homesick.
