What inspired you to pursue graduate study in accounting, and what are your goals for the program?
During my undergraduate career, I wrote a paper on Roman tax law, and it inspired me to learn more about current tax legislation. After taking an accounting class, I truly fell in love with it, and I’m ecstatic that I have the opportunity to pursue a career in this field.
What courses or topics in accounting are you most excited to explore during the program?
I’m currently a T.A. for a course on Federal Taxation, and it has taught me to look at the “why” of policy. This next year, I am looking forward to taking similar courses on Accounting Policy and Tax Research to better understand the purpose of accounting.
What drew you to the M.S. in Accounting Program at UVA McIntire?
The McIntire staff has been incredibly helpful throughout every stage of admission process. Knowing that I had a solid support system already made the decision to attend graduate school here easy.
What are you most looking forward to as you begin the M.S. in Accounting Program?
UVA McIntire prioritizes community and teamwork, so I’m most looking forward to getting to know my classmates over the next year.
What extracurriculars, clubs, or activities are you hoping to get involved with during your time here?
Having attended undergraduate at UVA, I’m already a member of the Jefferson Society, and beginning this year, I’m living on the Range. Beyond my current involvement, I’m hoping to get involved in some of the McIntire organizations such as the Accounting Society.
What’s one place in Charlottesville (or on Grounds) you’re most excited to visit or explore?
I absolutely adore the shopping and dining at the Downtown Mall, so I’m excited to spend many more Saturdays exploring!
