Why Promotions?
I’ve had this class on my radar since its first year, and every year, I hear amazing things about it and its value.
This wasn’t my only influence factor, but the idea of getting hands-on experience and creating something for a Fortune 500 company, all while in college, sounds very empowering. Additionally, this class is a wonderful way to meet others from different disciplines and collaborate.
Relevant work experience?
This summer, I was a Commercial Strategy Intern at WillowTree, a digital product consultancy here in Charlottesville! I essentially did digital strategy consulting, helping clients solve big problems with digital solutions and envisioned new technological applications for clients. I loved it.
Last summer, I worked as a Marketing and Operations Intern at an augmented reality startup company. I got hands on and redesigned their website and brand, so that was fun!
I’m excited for what’s to come next!
Relevant skill set?
I learned the Adobe Suite in eighth and ninth grade (I’m especially proud of my proficiency in After Effects).
I also am skilled in Figma, Keynote, and writing.
Extracurricular activities?
I’m Head of Marketing for FFA @ UVA (Futures in Fashion), best known for our Lawn thrift event every semester! I’m also a part of the UI/UX @ UVA club and national Spanish honor society Sigma Delta Pi, and a Museum Assistant at the Fralin in my free time!
Career aspiration?
I’m still exploring my path, but my ultimate goal is to either launch my own company or become a CMO.
Course recommendations?
– ANTH 3275: The Corporation: History, Culture, Capital (I think EVERYONE should take this class. Not only is Ira Bashkow a fantastic professor, but the course provides essential context and covers materials that contribute to creating a more ethical and thoughtful workforce, which is especially relevant as we approach the start of our professional careers)
– ENTP 1010: Startup: An Introduction to Entrepreneurship (subtle plug because I TA for this class, but I think it is one of the most interactive and valuable classes you can take at UVA. All the professors are outstanding, too!)
– SPAN 3430: Contemporary Latin American Voices (1800 to the Present) (If you have a Spanish major or minor, I highly recommend taking this class with Cole Rizki. He is AMAZING. I still think about the texts covered in this class, and every conversation and analysis is thoughtful.)
If I could live as someone else for the day, it would be ________.
Emma Stone. Or maybe Stormi Webster?
Fun fact:
I lost my last tooth in ninth grade.
- Undergraduate Degree Global Commerce in Culture & Society and Spanish, Minor: Entrepreneurship
