After UVA’s exciting win in the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship game, the Hoos Men’s Lacrosse team joined the party by winning the NCAA final May 27 with a 13-9 victory over Yale.

The win at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field gives the Cavaliers team its sixth trophy, adding to past successful campaigns in 1972, 1999, 2003, 2006, and 2011.

Two-time captain Ryan Conrad (McIntire ’19), who was named to the all-Final Four tournament team, was named a 2019 Face-Off Yearbook All-American, and scored in the final contest, was also recently selected as the 2019 Men’s Lacrosse Senior CLASS Award winner—the first Cavalier to be given the accolade in the sport for excellence in academics, community involvement, and personal character.

Conrad’s classmate Lawson Pisani (McIntire ’19), who served as midfielder for the team, also contributed to this season’s championship run with appearances in five winning games, scoring three goals.
