Dear Alumni, Colleagues, and Friends of the Center,

Fall is always a wonderful season in Charlottesville, with the changing colors transforming the landscape around us; the energy of students across Grounds is unmistakable.

At the Center, we are in full swing, preparing for our annual UVA Real Estate Conference, taking place on Friday, Nov. 14. This year, we’re excited to return to Central Grounds, making it easier for students to engage with the event. We are honored to welcome more than 40 distinguished speakers representing key sectors of the industry—housing, hospitality, development, design, finance, technology, investments, and more. There is truly something for everyone. I encourage you to visit the conference website to explore the agenda and speaker lineup. And don’t miss the welcome reception on Thursday evening at the Forum Hotel. We hope to see you there!

The Sanderford Speaker Series continues to connect our students with great companies. This fall, we welcomed Greystar and JLL, whose accomplished alumni shared insights into their companies, the industry, and career pathways. Earlier this month, nine students were invited to attend a UVA Real Estate networking event in Charlotte, NC, generously sponsored by Cambridge Properties and FCA Partners. We were thrilled to host over 65 alumni and industry professionals for an evening of networking and a multifamily housing market update. Looking ahead, mark your calendars for our spring networking event in New York City on May 7, hosted at Harbor Group’s 51 West 52nd project on Sixth Avenue.

A core part of the Center’s vision is “creating extracurricular programs that prioritize students, enhancing their preparation to lead, learn, and serve.” In that spirit, we’re partnering with the Darden Real Estate Club to offer Real Estate Financial Modeling training for both undergraduate and graduate students. Over 100 students are currently enrolled in this hands-on training, which will be delivered in person across three sessions this fall and spring.

The Center is also proud to support faculty across Grounds, both in their research and in enriching the classroom experience. Last semester, the Center funded faculty research in Architecture, Engineering, Commerce, and the College of Arts & Sciences. We also supported an experiential learning trip to Vienna led by Architecture School Professor Mona El Khafif, where 24 students earned credit while exploring Vienna’s “dense and diverse edge urbanities”—a global model for innovative urban and architectural design.

The learning never stops here, and we are grateful to have you as part of our UVA real estate community.

Thank you for your continued support,

Keven Lindemann
