Business education website Poets&Quants for Undergrads has released the eighth annual edition of its Best & Brightest Business Majors feature, with two Commerce School students named to the Class of 2023 list.

McIntire staff and faculty applied criteria such as academic performance, extracurricular leadership, and innate potential to select Lexi Magenheim (McIntire ’23) and Margot Seidel (McIntire ’23), who represent the School on the list of exceptional students graduating this semester from the top undergraduate business schools.

The two profiles detail the extracurricular activities, honors, leadership positions, educational experiences, internship history, career plans, favorite courses, surprises about studying business, as well as advice for prospective business school students, accomplishments they are most proud of, and business leaders and classmates that they admire.

McIntire Professor Carrie Heilman was impressed by Magenheim’s energy and diligence: “Lexi is one of the most hard-working, caring, and genuine students I have ever taught. She is intelligent, well-spoken, an outstanding presenter, and a great teammate who makes everyone she works with feel valued and included. When I think about how much Lexi packs into a typical day, I am convinced she lives in a world where the days are 30 hours long.”

Concerning Seidel, McIntire Professor Jingjing Li says, “She possesses a deep understanding of complex business problems and an uncanny ability to generate novel solutions. She is also highly valued as a team player and a natural leader, consistently demonstrating her willingness to work with others, assist her peers, and step up as a leader to address problems. I am convinced that she will continue to make a meaningful and substantial impact on the world.”

The standout students are currently finishing their final semester at McIntire before they walk the Lawn and begin their professional lives. Though Magenheim is at press time undecided about her next move, Seidel will take on a position as an Associate Consultant with Bain & Company in Boston, MA.
