Marketing Professor David Mick was recently appointed as the inaugural Special Guest Editor of Journal of Consumer Research, published by Oxford University and widely regarded as the leading international publication outlet for consumer behavior scholarship. The new position and change in JCR’s publication policy will allow the journal’s current head editors to submit their own research to JCR for publication consideration. Mick will have full editorial control over the review of these submissions, including assignment of reviewers and final decisions as to whether the manuscripts will be published.

“The Policy Board is pleased to announce that Professor David Glen Mick has agreed to serve as the first guest editor under the new editor publication policy,” said Richard Lutz, President of the JCR Policy Board. “Professor Mick served with distinction as editor of JCR from 2000 to 2003. He is a long-term member of the JCR Editorial Review Board, a past president of the Association for Consumer Research, an elected Fellow in the Society for Consumer Psychology, the founder of the Transformative Consumer Research movement, and one of the most respected and prolific scholars in our field. His willingness to assume the special guest editor responsibilities will greatly assist JCR in implementing this new policy as fair and balanced, and as free from conflict of interest as is feasible.”
