Sanderford Speaker Series: Ryan Johnson (McIntire ’06) of New Jersey Community Capital

February 12, 2024

The White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate warmly welcomed New Jersey Community Capital Managing Director of Real Estate Ryan Johnson (McIntire ’06) Feb. 12, 2024, as the inaugural speaker of the Sanderford Speaker Series. The special series is newly named in honor of Drew Sanderford (1982-2023), the Center’s inaugural Director, Robert M. White Jr. Bicentennial Associate Professor of Real Estate Finance, and two-time UVA alumnus.

Approximately 50 UVA students gathered for an evening of pizza and inspiration as Johnson shared his career journey, experiences, and life lessons, as well as gained insight into the wide range of commercial real estate careers and opportunities available. Johnson, who serves as an Advisory Board member for the Center, also shared his entrepreneurial pursuits with the five companies he has either co-founded or been an adviser or investor for. He concluded by underscoring the importance of integrity as a fundamental character trait for success, not only in business but also in life.

New Jersey Community Capital focuses on expanding opportunities and promoting economic growth to strengthen neighborhoods, improve individual and community health and well-being, and ensure that underserved communities thrive. In 35 years, NJCC has invested $910 million in New Jersey communities.
