On April 12th, 2023, the Center for Real Estate and the Built Environment hosted Anthony Malkin, Chairman, President, & CEO of the Empire State Realty Trust. During a two-day visit to the University, Mr. Malkin spoke to a group of students at the McIntire School of Commerce on several key topics crucial for real estate students to understand in today’s market. During his remarks, Malkin emphasized the importance of students continuously learning, as real estate is an ever-changing industry. He also highlighted the significance of interest rates and their impact on borrowing behavior, explaining how understanding interest rate fluctuations can inform investment strategies. Finally, Malkin touched on the role of sustainability and strategic design, stressing the importance of environmental impact.
