Center Provides ARGUS Enterprise Training for Students

February 06, 2026

On Friday, February 6, and Saturday, February 7, the White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate hosted Altus Group for its intensive, two-day ARGUS Enterprise Training at the McIntire School of Commerce. The event brought together a motivated cohort of just over twenty UVA students looking to master the industry standard for commercial property valuation and cash flow forecasting.

What the Training Included

The sessions ran from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, providing a deep dive into the software used by top-tier firms globally for asset management and investment analysis. As part of a significant investment in student professional development, the Center covered the full cost of the training and exam package designed to advance students from beginners to certified professionals. Participants received:

  • AMER – DCF Training License: A 6-month license for the ARGUS Enterprise software to practice post-training.
  • Prep & Certification Exams: Access to the official Prep Exam and the ARGUS Enterprise Certification Exam.
  • Expert Instruction: Hands-on guidance through complex modeling scenarios, including property profiles and tenant lease structures.

For those who attended, remember that the certification must be completed within 6 months of the training. Mark your calendars and take the exam while the material is still fresh in your mind.

The Experience

Argus Training for the Real Estate Center Spring 2026

The Center provided all necessary hardware and on-site physical training manuals, allowing students to focus entirely on the curriculum without technical limitations. Beyond the software work, the two-day format fostered a strong sense of community; lunch was provided both days, offering a valuable space for students from McIntire, Darden, and across Grounds to network and discuss their career aspirations in real estate. Because the material is cumulative and intensive, full attendance was required throughout the event, ensuring that every participant was prepared to tackle the complexities of the certification exam.

Why Participate Next Year?

If you are considering a career in real estate, this is arguably the most valuable technical skill you can acquire while at UVA. Often referred to as the “Excel of Real Estate,” ARGUS certification acts as a massive signal to recruiters during internship and full-time hiring cycles, proving you can move beyond theory to model-based rent increases, fixed steps, and percentage rent for complex office and retail tenants. While these certifications typically cost professionals over $1,000, the Center provides this opportunity at no cost to selected students.
