July 14, 2020
This summer’s McIntire Black Alumni and Student networking event took place virtually and featured an inspiring conversation with alumnus, Thomas J. Baltimore, Jr. (McIntire ’85, Darden ’91), moderated by alumna Patty Brooks-Nobles (McIntire ’82). During this conversation, Mr. Baltimore shares more about his journey to McIntire and his career path from UVA to his current role as Chairman, President, and CEO of Park Hotels & Resorts Inc., the second largest lodging real estate investment trust (REIT), composed of a diverse portfolio of 60 hotels and resorts, with over 33,000 rooms across the U.S. and approximately $10 billion in assets. Tom shares valuable lessons he has learned from his impressive career, how he and his team are navigating the global pandemic, and his thoughts on some of the important work to be done by individuals and companies in the fight for racial equality and social justice. Special thanks to our committee of volunteers for their work planning this event: Patricia Brooks-Nobles ’82, Maya Ford ’21, Zion Harris ’21, T’sara Nock ’18, Tony Parchment ’90, and April Wiggs ’08, as well as The Black Commerce Student Network and McIntire’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for their support.
