Hometown: Torrington, CT
Role: Associate Director of Graduate Admissions & Recruiting
What is your background?
I am a graduate of both Western New England University and Virginia Commonwealth University, where I studied Sport Management. My career up to this point has led me to a number of institutions supporting student-athletes in the higher education setting. Most recently, I served as Director of Academic Advising for Student-Athletes and Associate Director of College Advising at Tulane University. This is my second stint on Grounds, as I served as an Academic Coordinator in Athletics here at UVA from 2015 to 2020.
What led you to the UVA McIntire Graduate Marketing & Admissions Team?
I understood the value placed on the student experience within McIntire from my previous time here at UVA and was excited to pursue the opportunity. The chance to continue to support students in the pursuit of their goals, in a place I choose to call home, was something I could not pass up. The team here in Graduate Marketing & Admissions sealed the deal! They are an incredibly driven and enthusiastic group.
What do you enjoy about working with graduate students?
I am always appreciative of the opportunity to hear each individual student’s story and to understand their interests and aspirations. I’m fortunate to help play a part in helping those students take the next step in reaching their goals.
What’s your best piece of advice for prospective students?
Ask questions! Engage with our office early and often, and if possible, come see us on Grounds. Take the time to visit with current students and chat with our Ambassadors to better gain an understanding of the student experience.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself!
I love to cook! It’s my creative outlet. I enjoy trying out new recipes and putting my own spin on things.
What are you currently watching/reading/listening to?
I am currently wrapping up “Succession” and will soon move onto watching “The Bear.” I’m listening to new music by both Tyler Childers and Turnpike Troubadours and looking forward to a new album from Chris Stapleton in a few weeks.
What are you looking forward to this fall?
Spending time outside with my wife and dog, hiking, enjoying the fall foliage, and football… lots of football!
