What impact did the “Promotions” class have on you?

It gave me the background I needed and helped guide me into the right role that suited me best within advertising. I was always interested in the idea of creative advertising, and Promotions was the best foundational course for the industry.

I’ve met some co-workers who are legacy Promotions students and made some lifelong friends. This class is one I consider one of the most important classes I took in undergrad.

What is the most valuable thing you learned in this class?

As a College of Arts & Sciences student, I had my my first exposure to business-minded thinking. As a creative, I took these lessons into my job now within the industry and approach my clients’ work as business-first problems that are solved creatively.

Why should a UVA student take the “Promotions” class?

This is the first class that I took that really operates like the real world. Working in a team to accomplish a goal is valuable experience.

What is your favorite “Promotions” memory?

The trip to New York. Bonding with classmates over sub-zero walks to agencies, late-night hangouts at bars, and seeing alumni in action made this class worth every late night in the “Promo” lab.

What is the best part about being in the “Promotions” class?

There is a unique bond you make with the 25 or so students in the class over the year. You go from complete strangers to family over the course of a year.
