What did you study as an undergraduate, and what prompted you to pursue graduate study in accounting?

I studied Applied Statistics with a concentration in Finance as an undergraduate. I was attracted to pursue graduate study in accounting because McIntire’s M.S. in Accounting Program aligned exactly with my goals: I was looking to study accounting more comprehensively, make connections with peers, study in a more collaborative and project-oriented setting, and prepare for the CPA exam.

What are your academic interests?

I am interested in audit, particularly in the new technologies entering the field. Given my statistics background, I have found particularly interesting how statistics can help make an audit more efficient and robust.

What courses are you most looking forward to in the M.S. in Accounting Program?

I am most looking forward to Accounting for Decision Making and Control. I’m excited to apply accounting concepts to real-world situations and learn how they contribute to business operations.

What do you enjoy most about the M.S. in Accounting Program?

I enjoy most the collaborative and friendly environment of the program. The smaller class size and emphasis on projects and group work encourage active participation, teamwork, networking, and strong relationships with professors. I feel that my classmates are always trying to create a great learning environment for everyone.

What extracurricular activities are you involved with?

I play intramural soccer and am part of the Virginia Forestry Club and Bioethics Society.

What is your favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or place to visit in Charlottesville?

Mas Tapas! I love tapas, and Mas Tapas has not only has great tapas but also a fun environment.
