What appealed to you about the M.S. in Commerce Program?

Coming from a social science background with a desire to work in business can be very challenging. For me, there was a definite lack in technical skills and a business-forward way of thinking that I needed to compensate for in order to thrive in the world of business. After coming across the M.S. in Commerce, I knew that the accelerated program would give me the perfect deep dive I needed in order to bridge that original gap and challenge myself in a different discipline. Each day I am challenged in a new way and learn something very valuable that I will take with me into my career.

What are you looking forward to or have you enjoyed most so far in the M.S. in Commerce Program?

My favorite aspect of the program so far is the people I’ve met. Coming from UVA undergrad, it was really important that I broaden my circle and meet fellow students from other universities. The structure of the program encourages getting to know your peers through different teams and groups we engage in for projects. Everyone brings something unique and different to the program, and in turn, I’m able to expand my perspectives and world-view.

What are your academic interests?

My academic interests lie in the intersection between psychology and business. I’ve really enjoyed our Organizational Behavior class, as it combines both subjects for a unique and universally applicable topic.

What clubs and organizations were you involved with during undergrad?

Housing & Residence Life
The Hoos Connected Project
National Alliance on Mental Illness
Advertising & Marketing Association

What are your hobbies?

Reading fiction
Cycling, Pilates, and ballet classes
Cooking and baking

Name three places on your bucket list to travel to and why.

At this point, I haven’t traveled out of the country, so I’m very excited for the Global Immersion Experience that the M.S. in Commerce Program offers at the end of the second semester. At some point, I’d love to travel to Australia, France, and Italy, where I can try different foods, see important landmarks, and immerse myself in the culture.

What is your favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or place to visit in Charlottesville?

My favorite place to visit in Charlottesville is Carter Mountain Orchard, especially for Sunset Series on Thursdays when the weather is warm.
