What inspired you to pursue graduate study in commerce, and what are your goals for the program?

Coming from a neuroscience background, I saw how much business strategy influences whether new treatments actually reach patients. I wanted to bridge that gap between science and business, and McIntire felt like the perfect place to do it. My goal is to use the program to prepare for a career in the life sciences industry, whether that’s in consulting, strategy, or another role focused on solving complex problems in healthcare and biotech.

What courses or topics in commerce are you most excited to explore during the program?

I’m especially excited for the biotech-specific courses, since they tie my science background directly to business strategy. I’m also looking forward to working together with the rest of the cohort.

What drew you to the M.S. in Commerce Program at UVA McIntire?

The program stood out because of its mix of business fundamentals and industry specialization. I also liked how hands-on it is, with opportunities like the consulting boot camp and student projects, plus a strong alumni network that supports students during and after the program. Overall, I felt that the culture was incredibly supportive, and I knew it was something I wanted to be part of.

What are you most looking forward to as you begin the M.S. in Commerce Program?

I’m looking forward to learning from classmates with very different academic backgrounds and seeing how they approach problems. I’m also really excited about the Global Immersion Experience and the chance to explore Europe’s life sciences industry.

What extracurriculars, clubs, or activities are you hoping to get involved with during your time here?

I plan to get involved in student consulting projects, where I can apply my skills to real-world problems and gain client experience. Beyond that, I’d love to join healthcare or biotech-related clubs to connect with peers who share my interests.

What’s one place in Charlottesville (or on Grounds) you’re most excited to visit or explore?

I’m excited to explore the concert venues in Charlottesville and check out some live music. I’ve heard the city has a great local scene, and I think it’ll be a fun way to unwind and experience the culture outside of class.
